• • Sessions are 45 minutes long and start on the hour. We advise arriving at least 20 minutes in advance to ensure you have enough time to prepare for your session. The session ends at the same time for everyone so don’t be late otherwise, you’ll have less time to enjoy being on the ice!

Can I buy tickets for the day?

All sessions can be pre-booked online. Tickets may be booked on the day, subject to availability.
Tickets are subject to a non-refundable £1.50 per ticket booking fee.

If I pre-book, how do I get my tickets?

• • You will receive a confirmation email with your unique barcode which will be scanned by a member of staff on arrival at the ice rink for your session. You can bring this email as confirmation on your phone, tablet or printed out.
  • Please check your spam mailbox as our email may have gone there. Emails are sent from the following email address – info@waterfordonice.com please add this to your safe sender’s list, in order for you to receive our important pre-event emails.

Can I book by phone?

Yes, for larger groups (over 20) you can call us to make a booking or for more information.

How do I make a large group booking?

I have booked my ticket in advance, what do I do when I arrive?

Please arrive at the skate exchange 15-30 minutes before your session start time to allow ample time to put your skates on and store any belongings.

Can I show my e-tickets on my phone?

Yes, we will be able to scan your tickets using your phone. There is no need to print your tickets off, unless you want to.

Can I change my booking?

Once booked, tickets are non-transferable and are unable to be rescheduled, refunded or cancelled.

I have double booked

If I cannot make it to my booked session, will I get a refund?

Unfortunately, we cannot offer any refunds for non-attendance.

Is skate hire included?

• • Skate hire is included in the price of your ticket.
  • We hold a large number of skates and a wide range of sizes are available. Our skate sizes range from size J8 to size 14. We also have bob skates available for younger skaters.
  • Skate size availability and bob skates cannot be guaranteed. They are issued on a first-come, first-served basis.
  • Waterford On Ice is not responsible for your skates, shoes or property.

Can I bring my own skates?

• • Skate hire is included in the ticket price, but you can bring your own skates if preferred.
  • There is no reduction in price if you bring your own skates.
  • Waterford On Ice is not responsible for your skates, shoes or property.

Do you provide skating aids on the ice for inexperienced skaters?

Yes, we provide a number of fibre-glass weighted penguins on the ice that operate on a first-come, first-served basis. There are a limited number available so it is best to arrive at the venue in advance of your session to ensure the availability of a penguin aid. Skate aids are available for skaters 110cm or under.

Do you have safety equipment?

Yes, we have helmets for anyone who wishes to use them, and we recommend wearing thick socks while using the skates.

Can you wear normal shoes if you have special needs?

No, everyone must wear skates or if they are in a wheelchair they can be pushed around.

What should I wear?

• • We recommend wrapping up in warm, outdoor clothing and please wear gloves.
  • As skates can get wet, it would be a good idea to bring a change of socks for after your session.
  • Whilst the rink has a roof, there is a risk of getting soggy as there is often surface water on the ice.  If you fall over you will probably get wet.
  • It is not unsafe to skate on a wet rink, just more uncomfortable if you fall and get wet. It can be more slippery when getting up, which is why we advise wearing gloves – not only to help with the cold but also to aid traction on the ice when getting up.

Is there a minimum age or height required to skate?

For safety reasons, all children between the ages of 3-10 must be accompanied by a skater who is 16 years old or over.

Can the children skate on their own?

Children are classed as under the age of 12 they may skate on their own, but a parent or guardian must remain at the rink to supervise the children. Children under the age of 7 must be accompanied by an adult on the rink at all times.

  • You can skate on our rink up to any age, although you are responsible for skating and it is not recommended for anyone with serious illness, heart conditions or pregnant mothers-to-be.

Do you have skate marshalls?

Our Ice Skate Marshalls are on the ice rink to monitor safe skating and will assist when possible if you are a novice.

Will I get wet when skating on the rink?

On all our ice rinks there is a risk of getting wet, if you fall over and have any contact with the surface of the ice rink.

Can I consume alcohol beforehand?

Persons who in the opinion of the Ice Marshalls have consumed alcohol or any other substance likely to impair their balance will not be allowed on the rink.

We reserve the right to refuse entry to and/or ask people to leave the event in reasonable circumstances including without limitation for health and safety or licensing reasons; if you behave in a manner which has or is likely to affect the enjoyment of other persons at the event; if you use threatening, abusive or insulting words or mannerisms; if, in our reasonable opinion, you are acting under the influence of alcohol or drugs; if you are unable, when required, to produce proof of identity or age; if you don’t listen to our staff; if you breach these terms; or if your ticket is void.

Can I perform tricks on the ice?           

Skating at high speed, skating backwards, tricks and acrobatics are not permitted. Chains of 3 people or more are not permitted, and neither is weaving or rough/boisterous play. The ice rink is not for professional use.

What happens if I have an accident on the ice?

Like all sports, the sport of Ice Skating carries a degree of risk. Skating is something that you freely engage in and undertake entirely at your own risk.  The skater acknowledges that ice is a very slippery surface and, depending upon individual skill and experience level, Ice Skating may involve falls upon the ice, collisions with other skaters, objects, or structures and therefore is considered a hazardous activity, which the skater has elected to voluntarily participate, with full knowledge, acceptance, and assumption of any and all risks of serious personal injury, death or property damage.  Management will not be responsible, however, incurred, for all injuries, accidents, and loss, however, incurred by the skater. All slips, trips and falls, and resulting injuries whilst skating, or being upon the ice will be the fault of the individual skater.

Our staff will assess the situation and if required, summon a first aider to the ice. We have an onsite first aid area but for more serious incidents an ambulance will be called.

ALL SKATERS ASSUME ALL RISKS ASSOCIATED WITH SKATING OR BEING UPON THE ICE SURFACE AND CONSENT TO ALL RISKS ASSOCIATED WITH ICE SKATING AND UNDERSTAND THAT THEY SKATE ENTIRELY AT THEIR OWN RISK, FOREVER RELINQUISHING THE EVENT ORGANISER OF ALL LIABILITY.

Are you insured if I fall and injure myself?

This event is fully insured. As this event is an Ice Rink, there is a strong likelihood that you may fall. Patrons are reminded that they skate at their own risk and that we cannot be responsible for injuries sustained as a result of ice skating.

Can I bring my Phone?

   The use of phones, cameras, music players or any hand-held equipment is not permitted whilst skating.

Can I skate on Christmas Day?

Unfortunately, we are closed on Christmas Day but we are open on all other days shown on our website.

If the weather is poor, will I be able to skate?

Although this rink has a roof, all our ice rinks are subject to the elements In the unlikely event that extreme weather conditions force us to close the rink, before your session, we will arrange for you to book an alternative session, subject to availability.

Can I bring my bag to the ice?

Bags of any description are not allowed on the ice. We recommend that you only bring essentials with you. All bags must be placed in the cloakrooms provided.

Cloakrooms are used entirely at your own risk. Waterford on Ice does not accept any liability for loss, theft or damage except if caused by intent or gross negligence of the company or its employees.

Is there wheelchair access?

Yes, the ice rinks are accessible for wheelchair users.

Do you offer season tickets?

Season tickets are available to purchase through our websites or at Box Office

Season tickets allow you to book a ticket for any session, at the specified rink, throughout the season. One season ticket must be bought for each skater.

Is there a spectator area?

Spectators will be able to view the rink and the skaters from around the perimeter. To spectate is free.

Do I have to pay to be a spectator?

No, it is free to spectate.
